How might we design visual frameworks and processes to help build technology into existing learning ecosystems?

I creates this development cycle as part of my Master of Educational Technology program (M.E.T.) from 2012 until 2015 at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Initially it was designed as a challenge to the traditional and segmented view of technology implementation that was/is to solve individual problems in a specific area without considering what introducing that technology (software or hardware) would mean to the community. Would the technology be an invasive species or find harmony amongst its new biome. The design of this cycle is meant to represent harmony and balance amongst key identified four areas in what I call an eLearning ecosystem. I have identified these four areas as key to success for educational technology integration in schools, institutions, and business. As the arrows in the middle indicate this is a non-linear cycle. This means that changes in technology implementation has an effect on the entire technology and learning ecosystem. Therefore it is the goal of this framework to engage stakeholders in thinking about educational technology from a more balanced holistic perspective, not as a medium to solve individual segmented problems, but rather as a living, breathing organism that is consistently evolving as people use technology to solve problems in their local and global community.
